Bruno Baur

Bruno Baur (* 1955 ) is a Swiss biologist and has been a professor of nature conservation biology at the University of Basel since 1995 . There he heads the Department of Nature Conservation Biology, which, with its focus on the nature conservation aspects of biology, is one of the few in German-speaking countries.

Baur does a lot of research into the fragmentation of habitats and the effects of this phenomenon on biological diversity. Another aspect of his research is investigations into the influence of leisure behavior on biological diversity in near-natural habitats and the anthropogenic influences on relict plants and animals in the rocky areas of the Jura in northwestern Switzerland. He specializes in studying the interactions between lichens and herbivores .
