Brussels Expo or the Expositiehallen van Brussel or Paleizen van de Heizel are the most important exhibition spaces in the city of Brussels . The halls are used for large national and international exhibitions in Belgium.

The Brussels Expo comprises 12 large halls as well as a few other exhibition rooms. There are also 12 conference rooms there. The largest conference room there, the Auditorium 2000 , offers almost 2000 seats. The parking lots offer space for around 12,000 cars and are easy to reach via the Brussels Ring .

Individual well-known events that take place regularly there are the agricultural trade fair Agribex , the Brussels International Motor Show and the Batibouw .

history

The construction of 5 halls began for the 1935 World's Fair . The showpiece was Hall 5, also known as the Grand Palais or Eeuwfeestpaleis , and is still in use. A year later, the organization of exhibitions, trade fairs, congresses and other events began. At the end of the 1940s, today's Hall 4 was added. Halls 7, 8 and 9 and the patio were built around 1957 . In 1958 different buildings were added for the world exhibition Expo 58 , at which time the Atomium was also built. Hall 11 was built in 1977, Hall 12 in 1989 and the auditorium in 1993.

In 1987 the 32nd Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Eeuwfeestpaleis .
