The Brydekirk Bridge is a road bridge near the Scottish town of Brydekirk in the Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B. The upgrade to the highest monument category A took place in 1987.

description

The Brydekirk Bridge is located on the eastern edge of Brydekirk and forms the extension of the main street of the small town. The masonry viaduct leads a side street over the Annan . The Hoddom Bridge , built around three miles upstream in the 1760s, is very similar to the Brydekirk Bridge.

The viaduct spans the Annan with three brick-lined segment arches . With a clear width of around 21 m, the central arch is larger than the flanking ones, which have clear widths of around 15 m. Pointed icebreakers emerge from the pillars on both sides . The border parapets are finished with natural stone caps. The road surface describes a slight hump. The parapets fan out at the approaches.
