Bu'aale or Buaale is a place in southern Somalia , is located on the Juba River and is the capital of the Jubbada Dhexe region .

population

Before the Somali Civil War , the population of Bu'aale was around 35,000, and by 2003 it is expected to have grown to around 50,000. This increase is mainly due to the influx of internally displaced persons from other parts of the country more severely affected by civil war and crop failures.

economy

The area around Bu'aale is comparatively fertile due to its relatively high rainfall and its location on the Jubba River and therefore provides a significant part of the food consumed in the surrounding area. The place also serves as a stopover for trade between the state capital Mogadishu and neighboring Kenya.
