Beech chapel

The beech chapel (in the local dialect Buechechäppeli ) is probably the most famous building in the municipality of Brünisried in the canton of Friborg . It stands in Oberholz and was first mentioned in a document in 1586. It is consecrated to Saint Anthony and used to be a much visited place of pilgrimage. It was rebuilt in 1661.

Today it is a popular pilgrimage destination, especially on Patron's Day, St. Anthony.

In addition to the year 1661, the following sentence is carved below the roof:

To the eternal father Kiristus the Heren this Buw is made to Eren and Maria of the holy mothers pure who are our intercessor.
