The source pond Kösching , also called Brunnhauptner Weiher , is a karst spring near Kösching in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt in Bavaria.
description
The spring pond, surrounded by trees, is located west of Kösching. It is the origin of the Köschinger Bach , which flows into the Danube via the Mailinger Bach near Menning . The mean flow rate of the spring is 140 l / s. The bluish shimmering spring pond is about 80 m long and about 50 m wide. Its bottom is covered with sand, which is constantly being thrown up by the pressure of the escaping water. A small stream that rises in a spring west of the pond provides it with additional water. The sources arise from the Malm Zeta.
The source pot is designated as a geotope (176Q005) and a natural monument .
