Buddy Shuman 276 was a race in the NASCAR - Grand National Series, which was held from 1953 to 1971 on Hickory Motor Speedway . It had no name until 1955, when it was named after the racing driver Buddy Shuman, who died in 1955. The race went over 100 miles and 250 laps in almost its entire history, which makes it clear that the number in the name of the race represents the number of laps and not the number of miles. Only in 1955 and 1956 was the race shortened and went over 80 miles.

From 1970, a new, shorter variant of the Hickory Motor Speedway was driven, which had a total length of 0.363 miles. But since the distance of 100 miles should not be changed, the race was extended by 26 to 276 laps. Since then it has been called "Buddy Shuman 276".

From 1959 to 1971 there was another race on the Hickory Motor Speedway, the race Hickory 276 .

Winner since 1957 (renamed "Buddy Shuman 250")
