Bugala is the largest and the main island of the Ssese Islands , which are identical to the Kalangala district, in the Ugandan part of Lake Victoria .

Bugala is the second largest island in Lake Victoria after the Tanzanian Ukerewe . It measures 275 square kilometers, is 34 km long in north-south direction, consists of dense jungle, and is located in the northwest corner of the lake. The main town is Kalangala , like Luku in the north of the island. The two places are connected by matatu and bus.
