Josef Bugala
Josef Bugala (born August 23, 1908 , † February 1, 1999 in St. Leonhard am Hornerwald ) was an Austrian football player and member of the wonder team .
Career
The 1.75 m tall goalkeeper of SK Rapid Wien completed two international matches for Austria from 1930 to 1931 and was part of the extended squad of the wonder team. However, he was unable to assert himself in the team against his direct competitor Rudolf Hiden . Josef Bugala made his debut in the Austrian national team on November 16, 1930 in the 4-1 win against Sweden in Vienna . Bugala played his second international match on June 17, 1931, also in Vienna against Switzerland . It was the third game in the era of the wonder team. The Austrians won 2-0 through goals from Schall and Gschweidl.
Bugala began his career at Humanitas-Heizhaus Hütteldorf. In 1929 he moved to SK Rapid Vienna . There he played until 1935 and celebrated his greatest successes at club level with the championship title and the Mitropapokal victory in 1930. From 1935 to 1946 Josef Bugala played at Post SV Wien and made promotion to the highest Austrian league with the Post Sports Team in 1935/36. In 1937 Bugala was Austrian amateur state champion with the Post SV Wien. After 1946, Josef Bugala played for several years for small Lower Austrian clubs before ending his career in 1952.
