Anton Janda

Anton Janda (born May 1, 1904 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary , † September 26, 1985 in Vienna, Austria ) was an Austrian football player on the position of defender .

As a national player, he played a match for the legendary wonder team and was called up by Hugo Meisl to join the squad for the 1934 World Cup . The Austrian national team reached the semi-finals, but Janda himself was not used. With his parent club Admira , he was able to reach the Mitropacup finals in 1934 in addition to four championship titles .

Career

Anton Janda began his career at SC Nord-Wien in 1912 , where he was already on the left wing at the age of 15 on the combat team. In 1922 he moved to Admira, where he made his debut as a striker in the championship in the spring of 1924 and had a regular place in defense from the following season. He celebrated his first major success with the black and white team by winning the championship in 1927. A season later, the defender managed to win the double and join the Austrian national team . He made his debut on April 1, 1928 against Czechoslovakia . For the year 1929, Janda was able to earn a permanent position in the national team, but was only used sporadically in the following years. This also included the match with the wonder team in 1932 against Czechoslovakia.

With the Admira, Anton Janda was able to post one of his greatest successes. The Admira championship team from 1934 made it into the Mitropacup finals , the forerunner of the European Cup . After a home win 3: 2 over AGC Bologna , they lost 1: 5 in Italy . A year later, the defender ended his career in Jedlesee and was then still active for SC Austro Fiat Vienna . In the post-war years further positions followed at FC Zell am See , SV Austria Salzburg , Heiligenstädter SV and Austria XIII .

After his death in 1985, a street in Floridsdorf Janda-Gasse was named in his honor in 1993 .
