history

The SC Austro Fiat Vienna was founded as a company team of the Austro-Fiat works in Floridsdorf and was looked after by the experienced former FAC manager Ziegler. In June 1935, the club immediately merged with the second division club Wiener Rasensportfreunde , which thus formed the actual mainstay of the later first division club. The Lawn Sports Friends were founded in 1928 and produced, among others, the later Austria star Viktor Spechtl . In 1932, the club rose as a third division champion in the second division II. League. The club played now until the 1934/35 season , in which the merger took place, for three seasons in the II. League and carried out the home games at the Movement XX square in Brigittenau .

The newly created club Austro Fiat took over the league position as well as the home ground and, under the patronage of the automaker, was able to celebrate winning the second league with one point ahead of 1. Simmeringer SC in the “debut” season 1935/36 . However , the club lost the due relegation duel with Post SV Wien with 0: 1 and 1: 2 at WAC-Platz in the Prater. Austro Fiat did not give up, after finishing second behind the Simmeringers in 1936/37 , winning the second stage was celebrated again in 1937/38 , this time in front of the SPC Helfort Vienna .

The annexation of Austria in the year of the rise of the German Reich also had an impact on Austro Fiat. The club was allowed to move up to the highest Austrian league, which was now called Gauliga XVII , but had to take the name Amateure Fiat because the name "Austro" was undesirable. The "amateurs" Fiat play with some well-known players with international experience such as Franz Hribar , Franz Radakovics , Johann Ostermann and Josef Adelbrecht in the first division and successfully managed to stay in 1938/39 , in the second season 1939/40 you had to Accept relegation and so it was decided to join the newcomer and neighbor Floridsdorfer AC .
