Franz Radakovics (born October 1, 1907 , † November 12, 1984 ) was an Austrian football player who played a game in the national team in 1933 .

Club career

Radakovics began his career with the second division club SC Nicholson before moving to the I. League for SK Slovan Vienna in 1927 , where he replaced the national player Franz Czernicky , who had migrated to Prague, in the position of the left outer runner. The favorites were initially able to secure relegation, but were relegated to the second division in 1929. Although the immediate promotion was successful, the team was too weak for the top division and had to go back to the second division after two last places in a row - initially the relegation was suspended by a league reform.

Radakovics left the club after relegation and initially worked for half a season at the Czechoslovak first division club SK Náchod before he returned to Austria and accepted an engagement with Floridsdorfer AC . With the Floridsdorfern, the outside runner was able to establish himself in the midfield of the league before moving to the district rivals SC Austro Fiat Vienna in 1935 . With the Werksverein the victory in the II. League succeeded straight away, in the relegation games, however, they lost to the Post SV Vienna . After the promotion was missed again the following year, Radakovics moved to the next Floridsdorf club, namely SK Admira Vienna , where he only played half a season before returning to Austro Fiat.

This time the promotion succeeded and the team, in which Radakovics had now taken the position of the center runner, played two seasons under the name of Amateurs Fiat in the top division. After relegation in 1940, the merger with the FAC followed, where the player worked in various positions during the war years - at times also as a center forward. In the first post-war season 1945/46 he completed his last game in the highest class and was then active in several lower class clubs until the early 1950s.

National team

In October 1928 Radakovics came to an assignment in the Austrian B national team when the Hungarian B-Elf was beaten 8-2. For a long time, however, there was no call-up to the A-team, as there was considerable competition in the position of the left runner with Karl Schott , Johann Luef , Karl Gall and Walter Nausch . It was not until a game against the Hungarians in October 1933 that there were setup problems on the defensive and Nausch moved on to the defense that Radakovics made his first and only appearance in the national team.
