Karl Schott (born August 11, 1906 in Vienna ; † July 18, 1985 there ) was an Austrian football player .

Club career

Schott's first club were the fourth-class Stammersdorfer, from where he was brought in 1925 to the great district rivals SK Admira Vienna and made his debut in the fighting team on the last day of the 1924/25 season . In the following season he had already secured a regular place as a left wing runner, which he should hold during the successful 1920s of Admira. In 1927 the Jedleseer were able to secure their first championship title in the club's history and Schott was one of three players who played in all Admira games. In the following season, not only was the title successfully defended, the team was also able to secure the ÖFB Cup with a 2-1 win against Vienna AC and reached the semi-finals in the Mitropacup , where they only failed at the eventual winner Ferencvárosi FC . This was followed by three runner-up titles in a row before Schott left the club in 1931 and switched to Brigittenauer AC , which had just been promoted to the top division. There he played as a left defender and was instrumental in ensuring that the BAC reached a safe midfield position. After only one season, the next change took place, again to a first division promoted, namely to FC Libertas Vienna , with which the relegation also succeeded, before Schott moved to the French second division FC Mulhouse , where he was promoted to Division 1 and he was active until 1935 .

National team

He made his debut for the national team in November 1927 in a 1-0 draw against Italy . For the next two years the Admiraner was part of the regular line-up in the runner row before he lost his place to Rapidler Johann Luef . He was only supposed to wear the national team's dress once, namely in the Nations Cup game against Italy in February 1931. In total, he made ten appearances for Austria.

In 2006 the Karl-Schott-Gasse in Vienna- Floridsdorf (21st district) was named after him.
