Rudolf Hencl was an Austrian soccer player who was part of the national team during the time of the wonder team .

Club career

Hencl began playing football with the lower class Slavia Vienna , from where he moved to the larger Czech club SK Slovan Vienna . There he made his debut in the top division in early 1929, but had to relegate with the favorites at the end of the season . The green-whites were able to manage the immediate resurgence and the right winger Hencl belonged in the following two seasons together with Rudolf Vytlačil to the regular line-up in the I. League . After a league increase in 1931 saved Slovan from relegation, another last place in the table meant the return to the second division in the following season.

Hencl left the favorite after relegation and moved to Czechoslovakia for SK Prostějov . There he played until 1938 and was able to achieve two third places in the championship during this time, each of which also entitled to participate in the Mitro Cup . In 1936 SK Admira Wien was eliminated with a total score of 6: 3 , before the quarter-finals against Újpest FC came out, in the following competition they failed in the second round at Grasshopper Club Zurich .

In 1938 he returned to Vienna and played for Viktoria Währing .

National team

In June 1931 Hencl was used in a representative game of the Austrian national team against Switzerland , which ended 2-0. Although he prepared both goals and was able to record a pole shot, this was his only use in a selection game. The game was declared an official international game by the ÖFB in the 1970s and this is why Hencl appears in today's statistics as a national player of the wonder team era.
