Anton Schall (born June 22, 1907 in Vienna , † August 5, 1947 in Zurich ) was an Austrian football player .

Live and act

Anton Schall was Austria's most “explosive” striker for a long time and was five times Austrian top scorer in 1927, 1928, 1929, 1931 and 1932 for his club, SK Admira Wien . Anton Schall's career began at the lower-class club Leopoldauer SC and finally continued at SK Admira Wien, for which he was active from 1925 to 1941. In recent years, the trained striker has also made an excellent defender. In 1941, Schall ended his playing career.

From 1927 to 1934 Anton Schall played a total of 28 international matches for Austria and, together with Adolf Vogl, formed the best left wing pair in Austria. The Viennese also belonged to the tribe of the so-called wonder team and in its era from 1931 to 1933 was the Austrians most successful goalscorer with 20 goals in 16 games. In 1934 Anton Schall took part in the world championship finals with the Austrian national team.

After his active career, Toni Schall became a football coach and was in charge of the Swiss club FC Basel in the 1946/47 season . Anton Schall, who suffered from a rare heart condition, led the Basler to win the Swiss Cup this season , but died soon after at the age of 40 while training on the football field.

In 1985, Anton-Schall-Gasse in Vienna- Floridsdorf (21st district) was named after him.
