Richard Brousek (born January 12, 1931 - † November 28, 2015 ) was an Austrian national soccer player. His parent club was SC Wacker Vienna , but later he also worked as a legionnaire in the Netherlands at SC Enschede . In the 1955 season he was Austria's top scorer with 31 goals .

Career

Richard Brousek started at Vienna AC and moved to SC Wacker Vienna in October 1948 . There he was used regularly in the championship for the first time in the 1949/50 season, after 14 goals in only 14 games he quickly became a regular player. Together with Ernst Bokon and Walter Haummer , he soon formed one of the strongest attacking trios in the Austrian league, with the three scoring 79 goals in 24 games in 1951. In the end, however, this was only enough to make it runner-up behind Rapid . In the international Centropa Cup too , Wacker only finished second with Richard Brousek. The goalgetter finally reached his strongest form with the Meidlingers in 1955, in 23 appearances he scored 31 goals and thus became the Austrian top scorer . In the same year the striker was called up four times for the Austrian national team , he made his debut on April 24, 1955 in the classic against Hungary , and scored a goal in his second international match against Switzerland .

In the following season, 1956, Richard Brousek was no less successful as a goalscorer. With 27 goals he was second best in the scorer list, but even with Wacker it was enough again after 1951 and 1953 this season only to runner-up behind Rapid. In 1958, the striker followed the call from abroad and went to the Dutch club SC Enschede in the Eredivisie . There, too, he was able to celebrate a total of 27 goals, but he soon returned to Meidling and played again at Wacker in the early 60s, which at that time were only second class at times.
