Leopold Neubauer

Leopold Neubauer (born October 15, 1889 in Vienna ; † unknown) was an Austrian national soccer player .

Career

Leopold Neubauer began his career at the Wiener Sport-Club . There the striker had strong partners in attack with Wilhelm Schmieger , Robert Merz and Alois Müller . After he had to admit defeat with the club in 1909 only in the final of the Challenge Cup Ferencváros , he was able to secure the title in 1911 in the revenge against the Budapesters. After a good game for Vienna against Berlin in a 4-0 win, Leopold Neubauer made his debut against Hungary in the Austrian national team on November 1, 1908 , where he soon had a regular place.

In the league championship of the ÖFV , which was held for the first time in the 1911/12 season , Leopold Neubauer started as runner-up with the sports club, with participation in the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm as the season finale . Austria finished fifth, Leopold Neubauer scored the lead in the round of 16 in a 5-1 win over Germany . In the consolation tournament of the eliminated teams that followed, Austria took second place, with Neubauer ensuring Austria's progress in the quarter-finals with the only goal in the duel with Norway .

After personal differences arose between the national player and the management of the sports club in 1913, Leopold Neubauer moved to Hütteldorf to join the WAF . With the Weinroten he was able to become Austrian champion in his first season in 1913/14 . In the season 1916/17 he was even able to become the top scorer in the league , like Edi Bauer from Rapid , he scored 21 goals. In the same year, Leopold Neubauer played his last international match on December 26, 1917 in Zurich against Switzerland , he said goodbye to the team with a goal. He let his career end again at the sports club, where he played his last championship games in the 1919/20 season .
