Career

Ernst Reitermaier came from Meidlinger FC to SC Wacker Wien at the age of 13 , where he made his championship debut as a striker in 1937. In his first season as a regular player in 1938/39 he was able to become the Meidlinger's best championship shooter with 14 hits and place himself as runner-up behind the Admira . In the next season, too, Wacker only just had to admit defeat as runner-up, this time Rapid scored more points. Ernst Reitermaier also missed the top scorer's crown with 17 goals, just one goal behind Franz Binder . In that season, the striker played a game against Slovakia on August 27, 1939 in the Reich German national team alongside seven other Austrians. After Ernst Reitermaier had "won" his third runner-up title in a row in 1941, he was able to celebrate a personal success at least in 1942: Together with Franz Jelinek from the sports club , he was the top scorer in the league with 20 goals.

After the end of the Second World War, Ernst Reitermaier finally achieved great success with Wacker Vienna in the championship and cup. Together with Willy Hahnemann and Turl Wagner im Sturm he provided the necessary goals to win the championship in 1947. In the same year Wacker reached the final, in which the sports club faced Wiener Austria . In a dramatic game, the violets were defeated 4: 3, to the victory he was able to contribute two goals in front of 35,000 spectators in the Prater Stadium . After the great triumph, Ernst Reitermeier remained active in the Meidlinger fighting team until 1950, where he was able to win another runner-up title. From 1951 to 1953 he was still active at SK Amateure Steyr , where he rose to the second-class State League B in 1952 with the club.

He then returned to Wacker, where he initially coached the youth team and then took over the combat team in 1954. In the 1957/58 season he was in charge of BC Augsburg , followed by two years at Kremser SC . In 1961 he was again coach of SC Wacker before he led SC Philips in the second-rate Regionalliga Ost.
