Joachim Buggelsheim

Joachim Buggelsheim (born February 28, 1975 in St. Veit ) is a former Austrian basketball player .

career

Buggelsheim played for the Wörthersee Pirates  in the Bundesliga until 1997 , followed by a stop at league rivals Kapfenberg from 1997 to 1999 before returning to the Pirates. For the Carinthians, in addition to his playing activities, he was also the sporting director and junior manager, and at times also a player-coach. In 2001, the 1.93-meter-tall winger led the Pirates as team captain to the Bundesliga final, where they lost to Kapfenberg. In 2002 and 2003 he was third in the championship with the Pirates, and in 2003 he was also vice-champion of the cup. He also played with the pirates in the European club competition Korac Cup .

In August 2010, Buggelsheim resigned as a player, but remained the sports director and assistant coach of the pirates. In the spring of 2011, he returned as a player and remained loyal to the team even after going to the 2nd Bundesliga. In August 2016, at the age of 41, he retired from his career and resigned from his position as sporting director.

Buggelsheim remained connected to the sport of basketball, among other things as a coaching officer for the Carinthian and East Tyrolean basketball association.

National team

As a team player, Buggelsheim took part in qualifying games for the European Championships.
