Buka , officially English Buka Town , is the only city in the Papua New Guinean autonomous region of Bougainville . It is also the administrative center of the region and, in the event of independence , would become the capital based on a referendum in 2019 .
The city is located on the island of Buka in the district Buka , constituency Tsitalto at the same straits .
With Buka Airport, Buka has an airport that was mainly used during World War II .
