The Bulletin de la Fédération jurassienne (full name: Bulletin de la Fédération jurassienne de l'Association internationale des travailleurs ) was published by James Guillaume as an organ of the Jura Federation from 1872 to 1878. It was the first and most important international magazine of the anarchist movement at the time .

history

The newspaper was first published on February 15, 1872 in Sonvilier and served as the organ of the Jurassic sections of the International Workers' Association . Before that, the Jura Federation published its announcements in the magazine Révolution Sociale , which was aimed primarily at French readers and could no longer appear due to the ban in France. The first four issues were hectographed and the paper initially appeared every two weeks, but then quickly switched to weekly. The Bulletin was published in Le Locle from 1873 and in La Chaux-de-Fonds from 1878 . The main authors included James Guillaume, Adhémar Schwitzguébel , Paul Brousse , Carlo Cafiero , Peter Kropotkin , Gustave Lefrançais, Benoît Malon and Auguste Spichiger.

First (hectographed) edition of the Bulletin from 1872.

A large part of the subscribers were abroad, especially in Spain, Italy, France and Belgium. By the time the newspaper was discontinued in 1878, 283 issues had appeared with a circulation of around 600 copies. Declining subscriber numbers and financial difficulties forced the editors to stop printing. Paul Brousse published the magazine L'Avant-Garde as the successor to the bulletin .
