Federal Government Bulletin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Federal Government Bulletin is a publication of the German Federal Press Office that has been published since 1951. It appeared in print until 2000, when it was redesigned as an online publication and database. In the printed editions, notices and statistics on federal politics were reproduced in addition to speeches. Since the changeover to pure internet distribution, the content has been limited to the authorized version of speeches by the Federal Chancellor , members of the government , the Federal President as well as state guests or other public figures. The contributions since 1987 are accessible online via a database.

In accordance with a longstanding tradition, the bulletin also publishes the speeches of the senior presidents of the German Bundestag that they give at the opening of the constituent session. When in 1995 the speech of the 13th electoral term president, Stefan Heym , was initially not printed in the bulletin on instructions from government spokesman Dieter Vogel , because Heym had moved into the Bundestag for the controversial SED successor party, the PDS , this led to a controversial parliamentary debate.
