Bump of Chicken (in the original in capital letters ) is a Japanese J-rock band, consisting of Motoo Fujiwara ( 藤原 基 央 , Fujiwara Motoo ; vocals, guitar, composition), Hiroaki Masukawa ( 増 川 弘 明 , Masukawa Hiroaki ; guitar), Yoshifumi Naoi ( 直 井 由 文 , Naoi Yoshifumi ; bass) and Hideo Masu ( 升 秀 夫 , Masu Hideo ; drums). Since their inception, they have sold over 7.6 million records.

history

Bump of Chicken made their debut with their first album Flame Vein on March 13, 1999. They only had three days to record this album. In March 2001 the album The Living Dead was released . These two albums sold out quickly.

On September 20, 2000, their first single Diamond ( ダ イ ヤ モ ン ド ) was sold. This was followed on March 14, 2001, the second single Tentai Kansoku ( 天体 観 測 ), which was sold over 55,000 times. On October 17, 2001 they released their third single Harujion ( ハ ル ジ オ ン ), before their first major album jupiter followed on February 20, 2002 . jupiter reached first place on the Oricon charts.

On December 18, 2002 they released their fourth single Snow Smile ( ス ノ ー ス マ イ ル ) and on March 12 the fifth single Lost Man / sailing day ( ロ ス ト マ ン / sailing day). sailing day became the theme song for the anime film One Piece - The Dead End Race . On July 7, 2004, their eighth single Only Lonely Glory ( オ ン リ ー ロ ン リ ー グ ロ ー リ ー ) was sold. She made it to number 1 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart, and her second album, Yggdrasil ( ユ グ ド ラ シ ル ), which was released on August 25, made it to number 1 on the Oricon Weekly Albums chart.

Her tenth single Planetarium ( プ ラ ネ タ リ ウ ム ) was sold on July 21, 2005 and the eleventh single supernova / Karma (supernova / カ ル マ ) was released on November 23 . More than 50,000 copies of this single were sold. On March 22, 2006 Fujiwara gave the soundtrack Song for Tales of the Abyss for the computer game Tales of the Abyss . On November 22nd, 12th single Namida no Furusato ( 涙 の ふ る さ と ) was released and made it to number 1 on the Oricon Single Weekly Charts. On October 24, 2007, the singles Hana no Na ( 花 の 名 ) and Mayday ( メ ー デ ー ) were released simultaneously. Hana no Na reached number 1 on the Oricon Single Weekly charts and Mayday reached number 2.

On December 19th they released their fifth album orbital period after 3 years and 4 months. On June 18, 2008, they sold present from you . And on November 25th they released a single RIP / Merry Christmas after over two years. In 2009 only this single was released. In 2010 they released their 16th album Happy on April 14th, and 17th Maho no Ryori ~ Kimi kara Kimi e ~ ( 魔法 の 料理 ~ 君 か ら 君 へ ~ ) on April 21st. These two singles made it to number 1 on the Oricon charts. On October 13th they gave their 18th single Uchū Hikoshi e no Tegami / Motorcycle ( 宇宙 飛行 士 へ の 手紙 / モ ー タ ー サ イ ク ル ). Their album Cosmonaut was released on December 15th after a break of more than three years .

They released the single Tomodachi no Uta ( 友 達 の 唄 ) on February 23, 2011, and Smile on May 11. On October 19, the 21st single Zero ( ゼ ロ ) was released, of which over 20,000 copies were sold. On January 18, 2012, they released their 22nd single Good Luck ( グ ッ ド ラ ッ ク ) and on September 12, their 23rd single firefly , which became the theme song for the TV drama Iki mo dekinai Natsu ( 息 も 出来 な い 夏 ). They released their first live video, Bump of Chicken Gold Glider Tour 2013, on March 6, 2013, and their first best-of album, Bump of Chicken '1999-2004' and Bump of Chicken '2005-2010' , on July 3 .
