action
In search of treasure and adventure, the straw hat gang ends up on the island of Hanabal, where they learn about the most dangerous race in the world from a pub host. Your captain, Monkey D. Luffy , agrees to take part in the race, as the crew can really use the 300,000,000 Berry prize money anyway. During the registration, Luffy meets the pirate hunter Shuraiya, who challenges him to a fight. The upcoming fight is interrupted by various pirates and so the two fight side by side through the crowds of pirates. After the battle they meet the self-proclaimed pirate general Gasparde, who offers both of them to join his crew, but Luffy refuses because he is captain himself and does not submit to anyone.
The race starts the next morning. But even after a successful start, the Flying Lamb, the ship of the straw hat gang, just made it to the penultimate place. Zorro is attacked in the ship's bathroom by a boy named Badger, who has set himself the goal of killing a pirate and spending the bounty on medicine he needs for his grandfather. Zorro is able to overpower the attacker and together with the other crew members they find out that Dachs is from Gasparde's ship and that his grandfather is responsible for the ship's boiler room. Luffy then promises Badger that they will catch up with Gasparde and take his grandfather to a doctor.
At the same time, Shuraiya has engaged Gasparde in a fight aboard his ship, seeking revenge on Gasparde for the murder of his parents and baby sister. But the pirate general gets the upper hand and brutally beats Shuraiya up. Shortly before he gives him the coup de grace, the Flying Lamb appears on the horizon and Luffy can use his devil's powers to catapult himself from Gasparde at the last second and save Shuraiya's life. Impressed by Luffy's powers, Gasparde calls on him to fight and presents Luffy with his devil powers, with the help of which he can turn his body into liquid sugar.
When the rest of the Straw Hat gang board Gasparde's ship, Dachs sees his grandfather and asks him and Luffy's crew to flee. He agrees, but first goes back to the boiler room to do something. After the ship threatens to sink due to the fight between Luffy and Gasparde, the straw hat gang decides to go back to their ship without Luffy in order to be able to cast off in time. But time is of the essence because Nami, the navigator, discovers a hurricane that is rapidly approaching in the distance. As it is too dangerous to wait for Luffy and Dachs' grandfather, the Flying Lamb casts off, whereupon Dachs becomes furious and tries to turn the ship. Zorro knocked him out and found that Dachs was not a little boy, but a little girl.
When the cyclone is already in the immediate vicinity, Luffy manages to find Gaspardes weak point and catapult him directly into the middle of the cyclone. Due to his serious injuries, Luffy collapses and faints while the ship is torn apart around him.
The next morning, Luffy wakes up in a small boat with Shuraiya and Biera, Badger's grandfather, and the three slowly drift towards the Flying Lamb. As it turns out, Badger is actually Adelle, Shuraiya's sister, who was believed dead, and the two and Biera decide to live together as a family.
Shortly before the finish line, the straw hat gang has to realize that they can no longer win the race because the Navy is already waiting for them in the home straight. They turn around, put Adelle, Shuraiya, and Biera in a small boat, and set sail to escape the Navy.
