Bumpei Satō (born December 16, 1985 ) is a former Japanese tennis player .

Career

Bumpei Satō played after a few tournaments on the ITF Future Tour from 2005, from 2008 on regularly professional tournaments. Here he came to his first match on the ATP Challenger Tour , the next higher tournament category , in Yokohama after successfully qualifying . This year he was also listed in the world rankings for the first time . In 2010 he won the first two of twelve futures, all of which he achieved in doubles in his career. In November of that year, he also played a semi-final at the Challenger in Toyota for the first time , so that at the end of the year he was in the top 500 with 436th place in doubles. In 2011 and 2012 he also won a future tournament in doubles, but was unable to achieve any decisive improvement in the ranking. Satō played his only two matches on the ATP World Tour in May 2012 at the World Team Cup , which he lost in doubles.

The Japanese showed his best performances in 2013 and 2014. In singles, he reached his only Challenger quarter-finals of his career in Traralgon and in October 2014 with 661st rank also his career high. In doubles he was in June 2014 after eight future titles and reaching the finals in Toyota in 304th place. After less successful months and a drop in the ranking, Satō played his last professional tournament in 2016.
