The Union of the Greens of Russia (Green Russia) ( Russian Союз зелёных России (Зелёная Россия) ) was a political party in Russia from 2005 to 2006. It stood up for the protection of the environment and nature as well as for a democratic civil society .

history

In March 2004, over 100 representatives of green movements signed a memorandum to create a green party in Russia. In September 2004, the organizing committee for the establishment of this party was registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. In June 2005 the founding congress took place with over 200 participants in Koroljow near Moscow. A board and various specialist groups were formed. The environmental activist Alexei Yablokow was elected chairman.

In November 2005, the board proposed that the founding process be discontinued because the required number of 50,000 supporters for the founding could not be reached within the statutory deadline. In April 2006, a party congress decided to join the Yabloko party as the “Green Russia” faction.

The Federation of the Greens of Russia stood up for the protection of the environment, the appreciation of natural resources, for social justice, political participation and a democratic civil society.
