The Association of German Perennial Gardeners ( BdS ) is the professional representation of (according to its own information) 120 perennial companies in Germany . The BdS is based in Bonn and is the specialist group for the perennial branch within the Central Horticultural Association .

structure

The association is divided into regional groups. In addition, there are supraregional working groups on the subjects of research, perennial sighting, plant use, as well as advertising and public relations. The BdS winter conference takes place annually as a member body. The Association of German Perennial Gardeners is headed by the chairman Arno Panitz, who is assisted by an expanded board of 12 people, consisting of representatives from the regional and working groups.

Thematic work

As a professional association, the BdS supports its members in questions of marketing and advertising perennials. Recommendations are made through the working groups both for members and ultimately for private users. If, on the one hand, it is about the introduction of new perennial plants or their cultivars , on the other hand, recommendations for perennial mixtures e.g. B. given with extensive maintenance costs for public spaces or private users.

Every year, the association chooses the perennial of the year, which is presented by the association and advertised to the members with an advertising campaign. In addition, through the relevant working group, the BdS plays an important role in coordinating the screening of new perennials for their usability. Here the association cooperates with various perennial seal gardens, including the Weihenstephan viewing garden or the Hermannshof viewing and viewing garden .
