The Federal Office for Water Management (BAW) is an Austrian authority. It develops decision-making bases for solving water management problems. It consists of the management and the institutes IGF, IKT, IWB and ÖKO. The Austrian Fisheries Council uses the infrastructure of the BAW and its corresponding institute.

The legal basis of the administrative activities are resolutions of the federal government and water-related EU directives .
