Federal Working Group on Games and Theater

The Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Spiel und Theater e. V. (BAG), based in Hanover, is a German organization for extracurricular and school-based cultural youth education.

It is an umbrella organization for national game and theater centers, professional associations for game and theater education and working groups. 16 associations and organizations are members. The chairman is Norma Köhler .

history

In May 1953, the Federal Working Group for amateur theater and amateur theater was founded in Königswinter am Rhein on the initiative of Rudolf Mirbt . It tied in with the amateur play of the youth movement and reform pedagogy , but also sought encounters with play and theater phenomena. From the beginning, the youth game, the school game and the adult game were represented in the BAG.

Areas of Effect

The association advises on issues of funding, project mediation and speakers. At the same time, it creates target group-oriented programs at national and international level as well as intercultural, development-related meeting programs and pilot projects at home and abroad as well as specialist conferences for multipliers . Public relations include Korrespondenzen , a journal for theater education.

The association is a member of the Federal Association for Cultural Education for Children and Young People, the German Cultural Council, the Council for Performing Arts and Dance / German Cultural Council, the Performing Arts Fund, the Federal Academy for Cultural Education Wolfenbüttel, the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft, the working group for German-speaking amateur theater, the International Amateur Theater Association, the Central European Committee and European Drama Encounter.
