The Federal Border Guard Act used to regulate the Federal Border Guard . When it was renamed the Federal Police , it was replaced in this regard by the Federal Police Act , which was also called the Federal Border Guard Act (1994) at the time of its introduction.

The regulations on the (practically no longer relevant) border guard duty are still in the Federal Border Guard Act as the only remaining paragraph in force. In addition to the Federal Police Act, the Federal Border Guard Act continues to be a legal norm.
