The Bundesrealgymnasium Petersgasse is a general education secondary school ( AHS ) in the district Jakomini in Graz . In the upper level, the focus is on descriptive geometry and natural sciences.

history

The grammar school has existed since the 1986/87 school year. Since both upper and lower grades are offered, there were only first and fifth grades this school year (corresponds to grades five and nine). The mathematical focus is expressed in the compulsory subject of geometric drawing (third and fourth grade), the introduction to computer science from the first grade and the mathematical branch with descriptive geometry in the upper level.

Language training

In addition to English as the first living foreign language, from the fifth grade onwards, Italian or Latin are available as compulsory main subjects. The other main subjects up to this point are mathematics, German and English. In addition, French and Spanish are offered as compulsory electives from the sixth grade.

Branches

In the lower level (first to fourth grade) you can choose between textile and technical handicraft education. From the seventh grade onwards, there is a choice between the natural science branch, with physics and biology as the main subjects, and the mathematical branch with descriptive geometry. Physics and biology are also compulsory subjects in the DG branch (with the exception of the seventh grade), but no schoolwork is completed and the number of hours per week is lower than in the natural science branch.

Furthermore, from the seventh grade onwards, you have to choose between art education and music education.

Course system

The traditional system of electives (specializations in any subject without a choice of focus) has been replaced by a course system. Subject-related specializations are offered from the subjects, the range of offers, which is also very important for the Matura, is therefore higher and broader than in the current elective system. Specific strengths and interests are thereby better promoted.
