Federal Association of Tour Guides in Germany

The Federal Association of Tourist Guides in Germany e. V. (BVGD) is an umbrella organization of local and regional associations of tour guides in Germany based in Cologne . The federal office is in Nuremberg .

The association was founded in 1994 to represent the interests of tourist guides and today has around 6,000 members. He participates in tourism committees, also on an international level, and strives for professional recognition of the tour guide activity. The BVGD has created guidelines for the basic tour guide training as well as for a tour guide advanced training certificate, with which the different quality standards of tours in many places and regions have been aligned. The BVGD's training system was the first in Germany to be certified under DIN EN 15565 in 2008 .

Another aim of the association is to promote regional cooperation and the exchange of experience between the tour guides. To this end, the BVGD publishes a membership magazine called Cicerone and organizes nationwide campaigns such as the World Guest Guide Day . The association is a member of the Federation of European Tourist Guide Associations ( FEG) and the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA).
