The Federal Association of Dentists of the Public Health Service e. V. (BZÖG) represents the professional interests of dentists working in the public health service in the Federal Republic of Germany. It was founded in 1955 and is based in Frankfurt am Main. Since 1967, the BZÖG has referred to itself as the “Scientific Society for the Promotion of Public Health”. According to the statutes that have been in force since 2013, the federal association also represents the legal, social and economic interests of its members in the context of professional interest representation, including participation in the preparation and agreement of collective agreements.
The BZÖG is headed by Michael Schäfer (1st chairman) and Claudia Sauerland (2nd chairman).
The BZÖG is organized in all German federal states (with the exception of Bavaria and Rhineland-Palatinate) in the form of regional offices with their own regional offices. For Baden-Wuerttemberg, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia there are two state offices (North Rhine and Westphalia-Lippe) for North Rhine-Westphalia ).
The organ of the association is the journal Dental Health Service , which appears twice a year. One year after publication, the publications are also available for non-members to download from the BZÖG website.
Together with the Federal Association of Doctors in the Public Health Service, the BZÖG holds an annual scientific congress in which around 600 to 800 doctors and dentists take part.
