Federal association of municipal umbrella organizations

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The three municipal umbrella organizations at the federal level in Germany, the German Association of Cities , the German District Association and the German Association of Cities and Towns have come together to facilitate and coordinate association cooperation to form the federal association of municipal umbrella associations. The lead changes annually.

In the federal structure of the Federal Republic of Germany, the districts , cities and municipalities form the third level of public administration . What they have in common with the federal and state governments is that their will is formed in popular representations that have emerged from general, direct, free, equal and secret elections. This fact also shapes the work of the municipal umbrella organizations.

The central task of the municipal umbrella organizations is to promote the municipal self-government guaranteed by the constitution for the districts, cities and municipalities , to maintain the exchange of experience and to bring the common interests of the municipal bodies to the fore towards the state and the public.
