The Garzau Bunker is a military bunker in Garzau-Garzin in the Märkisch-Oderland district , Brandenburg .

The nuclear bunker - object number 05/206 - was built from 1972 to 1975 by the Ministry of National Defense (MfNV) as an organization and computing center (ORZ) of the GDR's National People's Army .

It is a two-storey bunker of protection class "B" of approx. 48 × 43 m with a total area of 4,000 m². The building complex above ground essentially consisted of a staff building with a kitchen wing and dining room as well as a guard building. The center of the plant was 17 m below the surface. Self-sufficient with ship diesel, it could be hermetically sealed for 24 hours.

The ORZ was equipped with computer technology from the RGW program ESER . So until 1985 two computers of the type ES 1040 and then ES 1055 were in use.

The Garzau bunker was integrated into the NVA's communications system and directly connected to the main communications center of the Ministry of National Defense via telecommunications cables and radio links. The "operational information system of the staff" in the ORZ summarized daily reports on strength, stocks and incidents from all branches of the armed forces and made it available to the MfNV. In an emergency, the daily updated data from Garzau would have been read into the bunker in Harnekop on an identical computer.

The bunker can be visited.
