Bunker in Bad Wildungen
Bunkers in Bad Wildungen were built in the war winter of 1939/40. 15 bunkers were to be usedto accommodate the Air Force High Command during the Western Offensive . However, the plan to move the headquarters to Bad Wildungen was never carried out.

Buildings are distributed over the urban area of Bad Wildungen that are not immediately recognizable as bunkers , as they were originally planned. On the area of the former hotel "Kaiserhof", a care and support center on Brunnenallee, the Maritim-Hotel, opposite the old spa hotel "Fürstenhof", also near the city church and other parts of the city, there are buildings that are known as Bunkers were built.

The bunkers were set up in a very short time so that they would be ready for Hermann Göring's air force headquarters to be relocated . The external design of the structures was chosen so as not to give the enemy aerial reconnaissance any indications of their planned use. The massive protective structures of the "Wildunger Unterwelt" were cleverly adapted to the surrounding buildings and camouflaged with tiled roofs and decorations, in the old town and in the spa district. The Bad Wildungen city marketing department regularly conducts guided tours, during which the Wildunger bunker can be viewed and the city gate bunker on Poststrasse, where the circular route ends, can be entered from the inside.
