Bureieta Karaiti

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bureieta Karaiti was general secretary of the Kiribati Protestant Church (CCP), the second largest religious group in Kiribati .

As a representative of the church, Karaiti has often addressed social issues ( prostitution , children's rights, etc.). He received particularly wide attention with various statements on climate change , as the Pacific Islands , above all Kiribati, are severely affected by global warming .

“There is only one way that Kiribati will survive climate change: We have to get away from here, including our culture. Which of course creates a lot of problems if we are simply torn out of our centuries-old tradition. Or we stay and die here. "
