The castle Beverbäke is an Outbound Motte (motte) in Oldenburg district Donnerschwee in Lower Saxony in the 13th century.
construction
In 1468 the castle was referred to as the "house on the wall". This name is typical for moths . From 1867 there is a report about the remains of the wall and a still existing well.
history
The first documented mention of the Lords of Beverbäke is in 1233. It is a branch of the Lords of Bremen, proven since 1159. The last mention of a lord of Beverbäke was in 1433. Beverbäke Castle passed into the possession of the lords of Schleppegrell in the middle of the 15th century. They had owned properties in Donnerschwee since at least 1428. From an inheritance agreement from 1468 it is recorded that Dietrich von Schleppegrell received the castle. The Schleppegrells sold their property near Oldenburg until 1533. At this point at the latest, the castle was abandoned.
