The Kuimetz Castle ( Estonian Kuimetsa linnus, Kuimetsa tornlinnus ) was a small castle in the parish of Jörden in the district of Harrien belonging to the Reval Cistercian convent of St. Michael . Today the ruins are in the municipality of Rappel , in the village of Kuimetsa, on the Vatla river (German: Pirk).
The castle may have been built around 1412 when the monastery had received large sums for construction work in Reval. Kuimetz Castle, like Kolk Castle, was laid out as an economic asset and was fortified because of the uncertain medieval conditions.
The castle burned down during the Livonian War in 1574 .
According to the watercolor by the surveyor Carl Fählmann, Kuimetz Castle was still preserved in 1827 as a three-storey tower, the corners of which are decorated with decorative oriel towers sitting on arched friezes. Today only the ground floor of the building has been preserved, hidden under bushes and reminiscent of a cellar.
