The castle Saarstein is an Outbound hilltop castle on a mountain ridge above the gorge of the wave creek valley near the town of Mettlach in the district of Merzig-Wadern in Saarland .
The castle was built in 1351 by Bishop Balduin von Trier , probably in connection with the siege of Montclair Castle, 800 meters away . The castle was last mentioned in 1439 in the possession of Arnold von Sierck.
Today's Burgstall (castle site) shows only small remains of the wall.
