Burgelitz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Burgelitz is a district of Wangen im Allgäu .

Burgelitz was first mentioned as an independent place in the 14th century. The place was the seat of the Burgolds from St. Gallen . In 1417 Johannes Humpiß is mentioned, who received the Burgholz castle stables from St. Gallen as a fief. Today's Hammerweiher was still called Burgholzweiher at that time. In 1456 the place came through the sale of the family of Brandenburg in Mittelbiberach to the city of Wangen.

Burgelitz today comprises around 30 houses and buildings, which are arranged around the Hammerweiher. The name Hammerweiher is derived from the former hammer smithy. The Hammerweiher has the Oflingser Bach as its main tributary.

Burgelitz belongs to the core town of Wangen im Allgäu (see list of places in the city of Wangen im Allgäu ).
