The burger highlife is a form of highlife that was created by Ghanaian immigrants in Germany . Burger highlife is seen as a German style of music.

history

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, many Ghanaian citizens emigrated abroad. Many of them also found a new home in Germany, especially in the cities of Berlin , Düsseldorf and Hamburg . The emergence of burger highlife can be seen in this context: Ghanaian artists found a source of inspiration in Germany that shaped the musical mix of highlife , disco and funk and helped determine the typical style of burger highlife. With the specific burger highlife style, they created a subculture that found approval in Ghana , in the Ghanaian exile community and worldwide. George Darko, Lee Dodou, Rex Gyamfi and Charles Amoah are just a few of the notable pioneers; internationally successful songs like "Akoo ti brofo" are examples of their success.
