Burkhard Breig

Burkhard Breig (* 1969 ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Free University of Berlin .

Live and act

After graduation in 1989 studied at the Rudolf Steiner School Wuppertal Breig since 1990 at the Universities of Bonn and Bayreuth law . In July 1995 he passed his first state examination in law in Bayreuth. He then worked as a project assistant for Ekosem GmbH in Tula until 1997 . After returning to Germany, he completed his legal clerkship and passed his second state examination in 1999. From May 2000 to April 2003 Breig worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Eastern European Law at the University of Kiel . This was followed by a job as a translator for the Russian language at the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry , and from 2005 on, Breig worked as a lawyer specializing in securities and capital market law at the Frankfurt law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer . In November 2007, Breig received a doctorate from the University of Kiel with a thesis on Russian real estate law. iur. PhD.

From March 2009, Breig held the junior professorship for Eastern European law, in particular Russian law, at the Free University of Berlin . After substituting for a professorship in the 2015 summer semester, he received the full professorship for civil law, commercial and corporate law and Eastern European law at the Free University of Berlin in autumn 2015, with a special focus on Russia.

Breig's research focuses primarily on Russian law and its comparison with German law. The main areas of focus are Russian civil procedural law, Russian international private law and Russian real estate law.
