Burkhard von Dallwitz

Burkhard von Dallwitz (also: Burkhard Dallwitz ; born January 28, 1959 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) is a German - Australian composer of film music.

Dallwitz began classical piano training at the age of eight. At the age of 13 he wrote his first compositions, from the age of 15 he composed and arranged music for various bands and formations.

Having lived in Melbourne (Australia) since 1979, in the same year he began studying music at La Trobe University in Melbourne, where he completed the subject Composition with Honors and then continued his education with Keith Humble .

Since 1984 he has been composing music for film, television and advertising productions in Australia. In 1996 he released his first instrumental music CD "Worlds Apart".

He won the Screen Music Award of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) in 1993 and 1996 , for which he was nominated again in 1998 and 2000. Together with Philip Glass he won the Golden Globe in 1999 in the category "Best Original Score in a Motion Picture" for The Truman Show . For this he received the Chicago Film Critics Award and the ASCAP Film and Television Award . The soundtrack he composed reached number two on the film music charts .
