Subcoracoid bursa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Scheme of the shoulder bursa, No. 3 denotes the subcoracoid bursa.

The Bursa subcoracoid is a bursa below the coracoid-like extension of the scapula ( coracoid ). It protects the tendon of the subscapularis muscle from friction against the raven's bill. The subcoracoid bursa communicates with the joint cavity of the shoulder joint and with the subscapular subtendinea bursa .

An examination of the bursa can be done with magnetic resonance imaging . An increased filling of the bursa occurs with a joint effusion of the shoulder joint, after injections or with an inflammation of the bursa ( bursitis subcoracoidea ).
