The fraternity monument in Jena was erected on June 12, 1883 to commemorate the founding of the original fraternity in 1815 on the historic Eichplatz in front of the fraternity oak (1816–1968).

The monument created by Adolf von Donndorf has a total height of 5.5 meters. The 3.30 meter high sculpture made of a block of Carrara marble depicts a student in the old German costume banned in 1819, looking high into the distance . In his right hand he holds the flag of the original fraternity, in the left - in front of his chest - the fraternity sword . The flag bears the inscription "From the women and virgins of Jena on March 31, 1816", the sword the inscription "For the fatherland". The base is made of Jena limestone, decorated with an oak leaf frieze on the upper edge. Among them are four bronze medallions, which show the three co-founders of the first fraternity, Karl Hermann Scheidler , Heinrich Arminius Riemann and Carl Horn, as well as their coats of arms, and the dedication “The German fraternity 1883”.

In 1947 the memorial was removed and put into storage. From 1951 to 2011 it stood in front of the main building of the university on Fürstengraben. Since the restoration in 1997/98, the monument had an anti-graffiti coating. In October 2009 the German Burschenschaft donated a photo enclosure to protect the monument in the cold season from November to April.

During a boys' day in Eisenach, on the night of June 16-17, 2011, unknown perpetrators soiled the memorial over a large area with green emulsion paint. This moved into the stone and could not be completely eliminated even by complex procedures. In the opinion of restorers, the “old boy”, also damaged by the effects of the weather, belongs in an interior in the future.
