Both passed into the Somerville family by marriage in 1274 and then, again by marriage, into the Griffith family around 1323 . A descendant, Sir Walter Griffith , is said to have restored the manor house in the 15th century and had the roof that is still preserved today put on.

In 1654 the property of Sir Henry Griffith fell to his nephew Sir Francis Boynton and is still owned by the Boynton family .
