Bushing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Buschieren is a type of hunting with the pointer , but also the flushing dog under the gun . It is used to search for game in confusing terrain before the shot . The bush dog used for this runs in serpentine lines in front of the hunter , at the maximum distance of the shotgun distance, i.e. 30 to 35 meters. If the area is wider than 60 meters, the hunter must also zigzag or let a second hunter walk in parallel. Bushing is mainly used for the targeted hunting of the brown hare , pheasant , rabbit and fox .

The dog works in the direct area of action of the hunter, i. H. under the gun. He should allow himself to be directed by his guide without many loud commands and should show a systematic search across the direction of the hunter's march. The pointing dog should protrude. However, if the rifle dog scares off game, it should keep enough distance so that a shot can be fired without endangering the dog. The dog should therefore not hunt up wild game, but rather scare it off and let it go independently or at the command of the handler. The hunted game should be retrieved by the dog.

When assessing this work, the judges at a work trial must take into account the good bond between the handler and the dog, which is shown above all in a systematic cross- search . This is a sub-discipline of bushing, namely the process of the dog looking to the left and right in a serpentine line to the front. Working with the hunter comes along with the bushing. This includes, among other things, that the dog does not leave the shotgun distance and that it keeps its distance from startled game.
