Bush is a Belgian beer brand. There are several types of Bush beer, but the most popular one is an amber-colored, top-fermented beer, which has the distinct taste of malt. Also known as Bush 12, its official name is now "Amber Bush Beer". It has an alcohol content of 12%, making it one of the strongest beers in the world. You can read on its label that it is the strongest beer in Belgium ("The strongest Belgian beer") . The beer was developed by the Dubuisson brewery and is also (still today) brewed by them in Pipaix .

In some countries the Bush is also marketed as Scaldis .

history

In 1933, a year after the children Alfred and Amédée Dubuisson took over their parents' brewery, they decided to compete with the Englishmen, who were already well placed on the market for higher-proof beers (6.7% - 8% alcohol). This is how the Dubuisson brothers invented Bush beer. In order to compete with the English, the beer had to be given an English name, so the name was simply translated into English. The term “Dubuisson Bière” became the name “Bush Beer” . In the USA, however, the Bush beer was sold under the name Scaldis (small forest).

In 1998 the name changed from "Bush Beer" to " Amber Bush" (Bush ambrée) , which is the characteristic color of the beer.
