Australian bushranger

The Bushranger (or Bushrangie ) is an Australian all-wheel-drive vehicle manufactured by the John E. Davis Motor Works . It is based on the British Dakar 4x4 by Dakar 4x4 Design & Conversions , but differs significantly from this one, although both cars use Range Rover parts. Upon request, there are double doors at the front or fabric roofs and doors. Because the Dakar 4x4 is more common, little is known about the bus ranger. Red Bull operates a bus ranger as an advertising vehicle.

Both the Dakar 4x4 and the Bushranger are basically scrap-ripe Range Rovers, the chassis of which have been cut off behind the rear axle. Then a roll cage and GRP bodies are put on. The interior is usually also from the Range Rover or Land Rover Discovery . The engines also come from these vehicles, although some examples were equipped with more powerful engines.

You can also build a bus ranger yourself. Fiberglass body and roll cage are available from different manufacturers and then you need a base vehicle - usually a Range Rover from the junkyard. The base vehicle is "stripped" except for the chassis; then the rebuilding begins. This procedure can take between a few months and a few years, depending on the time and financial resources of the builder.
